Video Questionnaire - Characters

Finally have been able to upload the video!

I used Adobe Premier Pro for the editing. It was very interesting, as I had my first hands on approach! It was fun to actually import, move the clips, cut invalid sections and listen to the flow of diagetic sound; instead of me normally watching. I discovered that you can add transitions to clips; which was very useful in making the cut smoother, if it was originally sharp/harsh, and showing the next question/section. I even added a title at the end!

There have been many technical issues - mainly to do with converting the edited clips to a video that can be uploaded. However, with patience (and a colleague that knows allot about computers), this was achieved.

I hope you like my findings and the differing opinions that people have.

A Hiccup in the Blogging

Heya everyone,
I know it's been a while since I last updated and I'm sorry for that. I have been considerably ill over the last two weeks with a cold/flu virus and have found it achingly hard to create and upload posts or any other work. I'm thankfully allot better now and am going to catch up with the posting! This means however, that I will be backdating to the order I would have had them in, sorry if this causes any confusion.

Location 2 Idea

I'm interested in old asylums and their eerie atmosphere. I would love to film in one but most of them have been refurbished, have perished in fires and generally exist on the internet...There would also be the long winded process of getting permission to enter, accompanied with the risks of safety...
However, I do not automatically need to film in one; I could take an establishing high angle long shot of the exterior and film the interior somewhere else! Only if it fits with my idea...
I am inspired by the photographs in these links and hope to shoot some footage of an aged interior where the Ghost could be.

Location 1 Idea

I really like the London setting, it's has various styles within, theres so much to choose from; urban, classy, run-down, upbeat, contemporary...
I wish this to be where the Final production filming takes place, especially as it's local to me - less travelling and more variety!
I would like to recreate the busy atmosphere that London has, through various shots.
A CU of the underground sign or a train coming to a station, the large amount of people tapping out on their oyster cards - could even follow a hand tapping and going through the barriers, rushing crowds across roads, people in business wear, police, traffic lights - possibly stop motion to make lights flash, traffic jams, speeding cars - motorways, superstores, possibly a count down from pics of numbers - similar to the Olympic countdowns.
Also, non-diagetic sounds of cars beeping, conversations overlapping, laughter, news - especially if an event is involved with story - not sure, brushing teeth, and generally sounds that could make the atmosphere seem busy.
Then I would like a sudden change, but I don't want to contemplate that yet until I'm certain about the type of characters I would like and any other locations...

Once my idea is more grounded Patrycja and I will have a meeting and exchange ideas - can't wait - should be soon!

Preliminary Editing 3

Anna has done the sound today and came up with various compositions. It was a process of elimination, we didn't want it to be too dramatic other wise it would seem to overpowering for the video and we didn't want it to be a boring droning sound either. After a long discussion as a group and watching and re-watching the clip along side the different sounds we decided to have a playful piano as it helped intrigue an audience, was ironic and helped uplift or add humor to the sad situation.

I'm sure we are all pleased with the result, I am!

You know, it's made me realise how much work pre-production, filming and the post production actually take. It takes allot of work, effort, time and diligence to have a good production, you have to be a strong team, with good communication for it to go well. The whole process can take some films years to complete! But it's all worth it! 

This experience is really going to help me with my mind maps, production processes and creativity!

Preliminary Editing 2

Patrycja was editing in the titles today. After experimenting with different types of fonts and colour's, we chose to have a basic underlined green font; as it suits both the company name and background. 
The hard part was where to place the company name and title...Eventually Patrycja and I thought that it would be good to have the name at the beginning, separated from the titles. I thought it would be very humorous if the title 'Friendship' would be at the ending clip as it seems sarcastic and is ironic.

I've learnt much more about editing - titles - how to add, fade, remove, colour, change them etc. I have really enjoyed learning this and I'm looking forward to our last step. 

Each time we edit it's looking better and better!

Video Questionnaire Fault

Hey everyone,
I do have a video questionnaire but there are some technical difficulties at the moment so it's not uploading.
I was hoping to upload it today but I will have to upload it within a few days, if not tomorrow.

Here's some info on it for now:

I asked 6th former's at my school what they thought my characters should or could look like in appearance and what personalities they might have.
I came up with various results and once the VLOG is uploaded I will upload my final ideas for the characters!

Preliminary Editing 1

Veronika edited the clips together today and did a really good job of it. It's looking great!

We all watched it back and decided that we needed a production name and title for the clip. It wasn't hard and Anna came up with the Company name 'Green Pie Productions'; we all like the colour green and enjoy pie!
Veronika thought of the title 'Friendship' - to add irony to the short film.

I've got some basic knowledge of editing and the edited clips were really helpful in improving that; as you can see all the tools used and technical terms on the screen.
You can alter the level of sound, speed up or slow down a clip, chop beginning and ends of clips to help them run smoothly, quick cuts to increase pace/action in scene, prolong clips for tension etc.

I find it really exciting and can't wait to see the final result!

Will update the next step tomorrow! :)
